In DAT’s early days as a consumer format, HHB recognised the potential of the format as a low cost, high quality 2 track medium for use in music recording, mastering, post production, broadcast and location sound acquisition. HHB DAT tape played an important role in pioneering the professional acceptance of the format which remains in widespread use both on location and in the studio.
A choice of 6 convenient tape lengths minimises costly wastage, and while other manufacturers use thinner tape for longer running times, all HHB DAT tapes are standard thickness with an advanced binder formulation to ensure consistently low block error rates. The precision engineered cassette shell discharges static quickly, resisting dust build-up, while a new improved design in the hub lock assembly creates a more efficient braking action, reducing tape slack when ejecting and hence providing better loading. In independent testing of seven leading DAT tape brands, HHB came out on top with consistently lower block error rates and superior archival stability.
